1. Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information:

Account and Profile Information

• DUPR login information you provide (email address and password are sent to DUPR's API for authentication; the password is not stored by us beyond what is necessary for that login request).
• Information returned from DUPR and stored in our systems, such as:
  • Name and display name
  • Email address
  • DUPR rating and related stats
  • DUPR user ID
  • Profile picture URL

App Usage and Content You Provide

• Chat messages you send and receive.
• Group and membership information (chats you belong to, muted users, poll votes and reactions).
• City and venue selections you make to find and join local groups.
• Feedback and bug reports you submit (including the text you enter).

Device and Technical Information

• Push notification device token from Apple Push Notification service (APNs), used to send you chat notifications.
• Basic device information included with bug reports (e.g., iOS version, device model).

Photos (Optional)

If you choose to upload a profile picture, we access the photo you select from your photo library and upload it to our storage provider. We do not access your entire photo library; only the item you pick.

We do not collect precise location (GPS), contacts, health data, or your camera feed.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

Provide and maintain the service

• Authenticate you via DUPR and Supabase.
• Create and manage your Picklechat profile.
• Show chats, messages, polls, reactions, and muted users relevant to you.
• Match you to cities and venues and update your group memberships accordingly.

Communicate with you

• Send push notifications about new messages and activity in your chats.
• Respond to support requests, feedback, and bug reports.

Improve the app

• Diagnose technical issues and maintain reliability and security of the service.

We do not use your data for targeted advertising or to build marketing profiles.

3. How We Share Your Information

We share your information only with:

Service Providers

• Supabase: We use Supabase to provide authentication, database, storage, and edge functions. Your account, chat, city/venue, and notification data are stored and processed there.
• DUPR: We call the official DUPR API to log you in and retrieve your DUPR profile and rating.
• Email/feedback infrastructure used by our "send-feedback" and "bug report" backend functions.

These providers process data on our behalf to operate the app. We do not sell your personal data. We do not share your data with third parties for their own advertising or marketing. Your chat content is shared with other group members as part of normal app functionality.

4. Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as your account is active and as needed to operate the service. This includes:

• Account and profile data
• Chat messages, polls, reactions, and mute lists
• City and venue selections
• Feedback and bug reports

If you stop using the app, we may retain data for a reasonable period for backup, security, and audit purposes, unless you request deletion (see below).

5. Your Choices and Rights

Account and Profile

You can update certain profile details (such as your profile picture and city) in the app.

Push Notifications

You can enable or disable push notifications at any time in iOS Settings.

Photos

You can choose whether or not to grant photo library access; without it, you simply cannot upload a profile picture.

Data Access and Deletion

You may request a copy of your data or ask us to delete your account and associated data, subject to legal and operational limitations. To make a privacy request, please contact us (see "Contact Us" below). We do not use your data to track you across apps or websites owned by other companies.

6. Children's Privacy

Picklechat is intended for users 16 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child under 16 has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can delete it.

7. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including secure storage of authentication tokens and use of the iOS Keychain where appropriate. However, no system can be 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date above. Your continued use of Picklechat after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
